In the blues of January....
I think I've said this all before but I forget sometimes myself what it's all about and need reminding.
A colleague passed away yesterday. He was a friendly chap, I didn't know him particularly well but he was helpful and friendly and in the few meetings I had with him, he always snuck out a naughty stash of chocolate biscuits to dunk in tea he made me. Everyday at work when I went to get the post I always stuck my head round his door and said boo/waved and if I had time stopped and asked how he was diddling. Sweet sweet man. It's in the sadness and loss of people like this, that's so sudden and unexpected that makes me realise that life really is too short. You do not know what's around the corner... it could be something amazing, it could be something horrendous. But whatever it is the unknown. I know it's January and a lot of people are feeling blue. Money woes, job woes, stressful times, poop weather. But. You're alive and kicking That's a pretty damn awesome and special gift you have there. What I'm trying to say is love everything you have and do. Really enjoy the meal you're planning on having tonight/tomorrow morning/whenever. The snugglyness of the bed you climb into. The warmth of a bubble bath or shower! The smile and touch of another person. Appreciate the world around you - it's simple amazing. The stars, wildlife, other people and their kindness. Don't take anything for granted. Especially people. Tell those special you love them. Speak to old friends, drop a letter to a family member. Try to not be rude. Try to see other peoples perspectives and accept we're all different but that's what makes us brilliant. Live with your heart and follow it - do your ambitions - YOU CAN DO IT. You can do anything. Don't waste your life being sad and low, not getting out and seeing the world and alone. Enjoy yourself, try new things even if it scares you. Be happy people Life's too short, it really is. Sorry for the cheeseyness but I've seen a lot of sadness lately, bitterness and anger and well. It's times like this that makes me think you can't be like that when we're lucky enough to be here.
