Putting music on an iPod without itunes

My brother is trying to put a CD onto a friends iPod who has never done it before, and has in the past been helped out by another friend who just "did it" (she doesn't know how)

My brother has an iTunes account for his phone, but can't use this for hers obviously. She doesn't currently have a computer.

Is there a way to get the CD onto her iPod without using iTunes. We tried to use my Mums laptop to download a fresh copy of iTunes, but then it said that this iPod is assigned to another iTunes account (something like that)
Can anyone help?
