Kinect for voice/gesture input

With some of the deals on Kinect bundles I'm tempted to pick one up.

Pretty damn good deal. But I'm not sure how suitable Kinect is to my setup.

I have my TV/Xbox setup at the end of my bed so theres no space to stand up to use the thing, so would it still be suitable for voice & gesture control and maybe a bit of Forza head tracking whilst I'm sat on my backside?
