Got to agree here, Subarus are very bad on fuel.

While I'm not a badge snob (may add the Skoda Superb on the list) as a consultant rocking up with a Subaru on a client site will raise a few eyebrows.

Think it's an 03 plate, 45k, only driven a few thousand miles a year by a Newmarket racing lady as her chauffeur normally drives her. Full service history, never any problems and looks like new apart from one scratch on an alloy. Tax till December and MOT till next Feb. My friend is sorely tempted but currently looking to buy a BMW 320 from them for silly cheap money instead. Would be ~£4k so the saving would pay for a lot of fuel.

Tempting but the 4.0 drinks fuel compared to the 4.2. Knowing that I tend to put my foot down I'll be spending a lot of time at the pumps!
