Computer Help Needed

Hey guys,

I am considering getting a new laptop for my mom as an early Birthday and Christmas present as hers is as slow as a snail and as I checked last night only has a 60gig hard drive and 512 MB of RAM!!

So I have had a look online and two that I have come across which look decent to me are :-

Dell Inspiron

and

Compaq

From what I can gather the Compaq will be better due to the Motherboard being 1.77GHZ?

I would really appreciate any input or any other laptop suggestions. She basically only needs it for the internet and possibly connecting it to the telly however that isn't crucial.
