Maybe its just me then, but I prefer big budget American SciFi like the new Battlestar Galactica, Stargate and B5. I just can't get passed the tacky looking aliens and things. I need a great story to be backed by a great score with great acting and great production. Like I said about those 2 shows, they work as British scifi because they are designed to be cheesy. British scifi that tries to be serious just looks cheesy and doesn't work.
