Default Children of men - ***Spoilers*** what did you think of the scene where....

Really liked this movie and got totally lost in the film watching it. I know some people don't get this sometimes but I can get so involved that you become immersed in the film and sort of forget you are watching. Loved the way this film was shot and some of the scenes are just beutifully done.

Towards the end of the film there is that long steady cam scene of the gun battle. Really effective I thought (Clicky for those who want to watch it again). However, there was an accident part of the way through (3 minutes in on that clip) where a squib goes off and sprays the camera lens with blood. After just over a minute it disappears as the director thought it was too distracting so they edited it out with CGI.

Personally for me the blood landing on the lens broke the fourth wall. For a short while that illusion that I was immersed in the real moment was lost and I was brought right back to the fact I was watching a film. For me it would have worked much better if they had edited it out completely (oh how I hope you get the option view it without the blood splatter in the DVD version.... lol not likely). I have heard others say that the blood made it seem more realistic for them. Don't get me wrong, I thought the film was great and I enjoyed it. It was just something I noticed and that didn't seem to fit.

Anyway.... if you have got this far What did you think of it? Did it make the experience better for you or would you prefer it if it wasn't there? Or maybe you aren't that anal and didn't even notice/care
