Default Unbelievable

We've recently taken over supporting a smallish company at work. Their cambridge office was previously looked after by a bunch of numpties who convinced them to stop using exchange and use their external imap mail service for no apparent reason.

As well as offering them bad support and poor advice they provided them with an internet connection which is still in place. The internet connection is a little flakey as we keep getting drops on the site-site vpn but generally out of hours. Last week and today though the connection died during the day, i tried to contact them but the only number they have was completely dead, i thought it must be coincidental as it cant be an ip phone. Their website was also down so if they did have alternative phone numbers we wouldnt be able to find them out. When it went down today i tried to ring them and yet again the phone line was dead. When the connection came up the phone started working.

I can't believe any self respecting company would have such a shoddy setup. They provide an internet connection to people that they cant support when there are internet problems as their whole company is reliant on the same setup. I could go on and on about the rest of their setup but will spare you all from it lol. What's amazing is that people actually put up with it. I've advised our clients to have a good moan at them so they get a landline.

Shoddy indeed. Reminds me of when we had a network failure at one of the halls of residence, and the networks team put up an alert message to let people know what had happened and how long it would take to fix.

On the online campus messaging service. Doh.
