Vista performance scores

I just installed Vista for a quick play (I've got to go back to XP for now as some stuff I need isn't quite Vista-ready yet, and I'm using an MSDN license so will need to buy the real deal).

Anyway, I got a base performance score of 4.2 :-

CPU 4.2, Memory 4.5, Graphics 5.9, Gaming 4.9, Hard disk 5.6

Am I likely to run into any problems with those scores?

PS - The scores are way better than I expected from a system that was built in October 2003 (though to be fair it's been upgraded a fair bit since then).

PPS - Biggest disappointment so far given the age of the system - no network or SCSI drivers. If anyone can help me find drivers for 3com 3c940 I'd appreciate it.

You've got a higher base score than I've got with the PC I bought a few days ago

Although it was a dirt cheap PC.
My scores are: CPU 4.8, Memory 4.5, Graphics 3.4 (Integrated), Gaming 3.4, Hard Disk 5.7.
So I got overall of 3.4 because of the poor graphics but it runs aero fine so not bothered in the slightest. Could hardly afford the PC (especially as I relied on getting a job now heh) so graphics weren't at the forefront of my mind

You're going to be fine - What video card are you using that's giving you a graphics score of 5.9 though?

Radeon X800 XT PE (or some other random letters) on AGP. That and the HDDs are the only post-2003 items.

If I can solve the networking problem (lack of drivers beyond early 2004), the hacked SB Live! drivers I found work, and Nebula sort out their Vista incompatibilities, I may well reinstall again.

3Com 3c940 = Marvel Yukon 88E8001

Do I understand? No. Do I care? No. Once I got online Windows said there was a 3Com driver update.

That just leaves the Neb and getting legal.

I scored an overall score of 4.5 I think and it ran like hot **** off a shovel. I'm back to xp64 as I prefer it, but Vista Ultimate even on my ageing PC ate it for breakfast.

Yeah, I'm going to go back to XP tomorrow as I need it for work and I know what I'm doing with XP for now. I suspect it'll not be long though. And there was me saying a few months ago that I wouldn't touch Vista.

I'm not sure whether this is down to drivers or Vista, but if I open the sound mixer I get two volume sliders and that's it. My card has loads of inputs and even a standard card has more than one. In XP even without installing any drivers I get five volume sliders and options to add another 7-8 more.

I don't want to have to buy a new soundcard but I suspect it's finally time that I have to (the old one is about 10 years old so it's had a good run).

Any ideas?
