Default Browser recommendations

I've currently got Firefox installed now with the following plugins:

Flashgot
Adblock Plus

I get the following issues quite frequently:

Page part loads and says "Stopped" in bottom left corner.

Sometimes pages do not load at all

Images are sometimes broken on reputable websites

I may try using a proxy but things usually work fine in IE (which is looking more and more appealing to me).

Try it with the plugins disabled, in case it's those that are causing it. Ad blocking in particular I've had trouble with before (though I haven't used that specific plugin as I don't use any FF plugins at all).

I had that with my FF on my old XP box, the only way around it once it had dropped into that mode was to close and reopen FF.

Deleting my FF profile cured it iirc.

As long as you don't use IE7 anything else will work fine!

You don't like IE7 then?

I'm not overly keen on it either, but then I'm not overly sure about the whole Vista thing either.

I've just had lots of problems with it - keeps crashing, some sites just don't work properly... maybe it's just me, but I'm happy with IE6 if I have to use it.

Same btw. I don't think I'll ever forgive MS for doing away with proper menu bars (yes, I know you can get them back).

I actually quite like IE7, over IE6 anyway. And Vista is growing on me hugely from and end user experience point of view. From an admin point of view it can be frustrating, but I'll reserve final judgement until I see a gold version of Longhorn.

Does anyone have an idea why some images won't load? For example if I browse products on www.millets.co.uk - some images won't load and require me to right click and select "view image". It's the same on other sites as well.

That'd quite possibly be your Adblock Plus plugin. Try it without.
