Cool My new comedy ride

£150 with long MOT from my nextdoor neighbour. 2.3 Manual 8v, clutch is a little absorbent for my liking but that is easy to rectify.

This thing is so easy to get sideways, the turbo ones must be hilarious to drive.

Some shots from the first test drive!

Needs lowering at least by one fist

Interior barely shows any signs of wear, leather is supple and not cracked, seats are adjustable and I've managed to get them into a semi-bucket pose

Barely run in I tells ya!

An engine, earlier. Doesn't seem to smoke or rattle, bit cammy but I can live with that. Rocker cover leaking a touch so I'll do that and re paint the cam cover at the same time. Airbox is now gone (not pictured)

Greasy bits. Appears to be a live rear axle with ARB, pretty basic stuff and the main reason it's so easy to get out of shape. Those springs look nice and easy to drop out for a bit of attention from Mr Angle Grinder!

What is that? a 540?

I was once run over by a 240 estate (you remember, the ones you could've dumped a turret on and taken to war)... I did more damage to the car than it did to me

Would look nice with a lowrider kit and chrome wire wheels, complete with kerb feelers and a velvet interior.

Very nice Leon. Yes, the turbo ones are hilarious fun, but my mates was a temperamental beast.

Those springs could do with a blasting and coating though...

I had a 740GL estate many years ago ( new job, compnay car from pool ) , thought it would be terrible but as Lopez says they are fantastic for getting the back end out

sounds like fun, if they are a laugh then there is an old volvo near me.... i'll keep an eye out for if a for sale sign appears in it.

If I end up commuting again with work I'll either get a volvo/saab to eventually replace the Focus. Purely so its a moving armchair...... although an armchair that slings the back out round roundabouts would be comedy
