MOT ?
Right, I took my car into a local chap for an MOT.
The car passed but he has charged me £40 plus VAT on top of the £47 for the MOT? Does this sound right to you?

£47 sounds right to me tbh.
I get charged £40 up here although a mate does it.

What did he charge you £40 for? Did he need to fix anything?

Sounds like they've fixed something but they aren't allowed to do it or charge you without letting you know in advance. £92 isn't right.

Find out what the charge is for mate. He's probably had to fix something small to get it through the MOT but he should have the courtesy to phone and ask if it's OK to go ahead...not just do it.

So let me get this right, if it passed with no problems it should have just cost the £47.
I'm a little concerned about refusing to pay. I don't want him causing trouble round the house. I don't if i should just pay it and tell him that i won't be a returning customer or to dispute it.

Find out *exactly* what that £40 is for and if they cant tell you, inform the relevant authorities that they are trying to circumvent the maximum charge |

If you didn't ask him to do any repairs theres no reason for him to have done them and charged is there? MB |

Rip off **** like most people in business. It seems they just eye up the punter & charge what they like.
I still get my MOT's done for 25 quid but 40 quid is being charged in the majority of places. Just pay it & tell everyone in the world they are rip of bastards & make sure you go elsewhere next year. |
