Default Do you run?

First thread from me - yays!

I started going for morning runs recently becuase i'm not very active during the day and i'm starting that I'm getting tired more easily, but i'm having trouble pacing myself.

I feel that I'm running at an average pace and am running a 7 minute mile at the moment, but I cant do much more than that mile before getting pretty beat - I'm proud that I can do a mile in 7 minutes, but not proud that I start wheezing and feel like I'm going to collapse

I'm not sure whether I should go slower, which would be hard for me to do I think or just keep running at this pace until I can get further without tiring.

So, do you run? and if so do you have any tips for what I should be doing? and if you're proud of your mile time then post it up

Thanks For Reading

Matt

I only run when being chased, and even then it must be life threatening

I've started running everwhere (well, where appropriate anyway). Not timed a mile but I'm currently doing HIIT - warm up jog to the playing fields, then sprint for a minute, run briskly for two, then sprint again etc. First time I went out I was knackered doing the second sprint, now I can do about 20 minutes before jogging home again.

I can jog to the gym in 4.5 minutes - I think it's about a km but that's a pretty rough estimate.

I'm going to start running soon !

Need to do extra cardio to bust some fat.

I'm going to be doing a 2 mile jog 2/3 times a week.

I wish I could do the AM before breakfast jogs but I struggle to get my butt out of bed as it is

Yeap, I do (despite my size!). I run twice a day, about 1 mile before work (I mainly practice my kicking) and about 3 miles at lunch time.

Go slow and steady. I've never seen the point in trying to do a quick mile. I either try to work on my endurance or my short sprints.

I'm not proud of my mile time (it's quicker than a lot though), however the tackle I can make at the end of that mile makes up for it.

As for pace, I'm not help as I struggle myself. I need to be chasing something so I tend to grab a running partner.

being currently unemployed and waiting to hear back about PhD applications means i get my lie in till 9, a before breakfast run every morning and then home to shower and carry on the day.. which usually consists of spraying my guitar project with some lacquer and then sitting on the forums

I run to music as I would hope most people do, so if you can find some tunes that get you a good pace to jog for 2 miles then let me know what they are as i'm listening to the slowest stuff I really have right now!

OT - you're just down the road from me Belmit, though I've never been to Alton.

More on topic:
I can't run Yeah I can sprint for the bus but that is it. I have tried going for a jog a few times, but I can't get into a comfortable pace.
And as for treadmills I end up getting dizzy, I can walk on them really fast but as soon as I have to switch to jogging/running I fall over

As has already been mentioned, if you're working on running further distance slow down the pace and work on endurance.
