Default Would you stop?

I spend a fair bit of time on the motorway driving up and down, so I see a large number of cars broken down by the side. This morning, I was thinking "why don't I ever stop to help" There are usually some very upset looking doris' that look like they need help but I reasoned with myself that maybe they would get frightened if a complete stranger just stopped and started talking to them offering to help them, especially in the night time.

Then I started thinking, what if I was helping someone and they stabbed me in the neck or were a complete psycho?

Hard one to call I suppose.

What would you do?

Keep on driving, i'm not a mechanic and I don't really want to fix someone else's pile of junk. With cars now being all computerised where in the past you might be able to bodge a repair to get you home, if the computer says no then its game over

Single women are the second highest police priority after single women with children, it won't be long until some one is along to help.

Even if you couldn't do anything, would you still stop to make sure they were safe?

No, its dangerous to stop on a motorway and there are plenty of emergency phones for people who do breakdown to call for help.

I'm not being callous, just practical.

On a motorway it's very hard to stop IMO. I'm normally sitting at 80-90 in the outside lane so if I did see somebody I'd be a long way down the road by the time I could pull over to the hard shoulder safely. It's just not safe or practical most of the time.

If it was more of a deserted road then I'd be more inclined to stop and help, although my knowledge is pretty crap for fixing cars. Although I could phone Leon

I did stop at a car crash on the way home the other night though. I just checked people were OK and they'd already phoned for help etc. so I carried on home.

Nope. Safe? Safe is halfway up the bank the hell away from the motorway. As Desmo has said there just isn't room, and to plan to pull up behind/infront is very dangerous. Besides won't you be in the BMW lane doing warp 1?

I've called the emergency services countless times due to accidents though. Last one was in the outside lane in stop-start traffic.

Ha ha. BMW lane indeed. I tend to drive properly. I don't stay in the outside lane longer than I need to.

I agree with you on the safety side of things, I just wondered what peoples thoughts on it were.

No chance I'd stop on the motorway but I usually stop and ask. Have actually been able to help once or twice but it's not like in the pornos, you don't get a blowjob or anal for your efforts. Damn internet
