Nominative Determinism
The New Scientist started the jokey study of nominative determinism whereby peoples names determined their future careers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nominative_determinism I've not come across any until fairly recently, in the Thames Valley Police DVU (Domestic Violence Unit), we have a DC Beaton, one of the Armed Response crew is a PC Kille and one of the Burglary squad is about to become a DC Steele.

A nurse friend of mine's surname is "Ward" which I quite enjoyed reminding her of (when not distracted by the uniform...).
Someone at school became a pilot and his surname was Airherst or Airhurst can't remember the spelling. One of my school teacher's surnames was Hoare - the fun he could have had with that!!!

I remember first reading it in New Scientist years ago, quite a comical article if I remember and to a degree appeared to ring true!
