BD Ready Steady Cook!
Well not quite.
Had an idea whilst washing up before. I am getting a bit bored of my food - I can cook "well" and all that side of things but what I have a problem with is going to the shops, seeing ingredients and putting them together with something I have no idea about. Sometimes I will buy things on a whim but perhaps not know what I should put them with or generally wander about the supermarket browsing just in case something jumps out. My solution to this is to create a little group here on BD. I propose a £5 per person limit on spending (so if you are cooking for 2 you can spend a tenner, but it MUST scale to one person at under a fiver!). Basically, if you "subscribe" to this what I will do is create a list and every fortnight the next person in the list will go out and create a list of ingredients and then we can all cook with those items and post up a recipe for what we did with them. The rules will be a bit lax but I would say that the most important thing was that no significant portion of the dish came outside of the listed items. Who is in? OK, so we have people interested: Me () Vix Piggymon Takhisis Belmit leowyatt Jonny69 Last edited by Dr. Z; 24-01-2008 at 16:04. |

Sounds like a good idea, probably best every fortnight/month. I wouldn't take part myself due to being not so inventive with meals but i would love to see what other people come up with and maybe try the recipes for myself.

What the hell - can give it a go It would be good if it was at least fortnightly as then I can aim for when Mic is on nights - I don't mind experimenting on myself but feel guilty if an attempt at something goes wrong and he is left with beans on toast :O

This is a bloody genius idea. Almost to the point where I wonder why I didn't think of it first.

I would, but am a fussy ghet and my cooking is more of a convenience when I have the ingredients rather than planning
So I will post as and when I get round to cooking them, but I won't partake in the actual thing. Hope thats ok! BB x |
