Default nVidia Price Cuts

Seems they're feeling the pressure a touch now, a few cards have recieved cuts!

GTX 260 - £212

GTX 280 - £328

9800GTX - £117

9800GX2 - £321

The 9800GTX is the one that caught my attention, significant boost over an 8800GT for just £20 more and damn cheap for what it is.

For £117!! Damn...well there goes the resell value of my old 8800GTS 640Mb card then.

I swear I don't understand the numbers anymore. I used to assume the higher the better but with the revision of versions (e.g. 8800GTS and 8800GTS 512) this clearly isn't the case

The numbers are designed to break people's brains. ATI at least seem to have moved to a sensible system, but everyone else (AMD, nVidia, Intel) just like to produce randomness.

Yes they certainly seem to be feeling the pinch. My gfx drivers for my 8800GTS are still iffy. Now that ATI has something decent out I will go back there eventually. I will have to think long and hard before I go Nvidia again. As you may have guessed, not impressed.

I'm more interested in bang for buck and good drivers now. Especially as the 2 x ATI card route seems to have good driver support and actually has a good improvement. I am interested in what the Intel gfx card is going to be thats rumoured.

nVidia couldn't code themselves out of a wet paper bag on the driver front. They really do *suck* a lot. I got hit hard for no real reason owning a laptop and a previous "Go" card that they just decided they'd drop when its perfectly fine (well apart from it being build rubbish and the fact its now falling apart.)

I'd settle for an nvidia 8 or 9 series card which will fit in my new case...

Only got 25cm clearance for a card, all the decent ones seem to be 27.5cm :s

Ugh. Wonder if that blunder will affect newer laptops too. :/

Same boat mate.

I'm trying to pluck up the courage to open up my M1710 in the hope it's just dusty rather than on it's way out. Even if it is just dusty, the driver support still sucks

I have no idea how my 8800GTS/640Mb (same as Greenlizard0's?) compares to the 9xxx series of cards.

I'm seriously contemplating ordering 2 4870's and Crossfiring them.

I absolutely hate nVidia drivers and have been ATI only for a long time *apart form this laptop with it's 8600GT-M*
