Default So, you thought you had principles eh?

On a similar tangent to Pheebs thread, but a little more specific, I have a question for you all.

If it was 100% sure to remain secret, would you cheat on your partner for money.....รก la Indecent proposal, and if so how much would the offer need to be?

Now, it's easy to jump onto your moral high horse and say "of course I wouldn't", but try to imagine this as a real scenario. Sex with a stranger, one time only and it's guaranteed to remain confidential.....for a potentially life-changing sum of money.

I'd be surprised if, secretly, the only real answer the majority of you will be asking yourselves is "how much would it take?".

I really couldn't do it.

If he knew however and allowed it that would be different and I would need 1 MILLLIOOOOOON pounds.

I think if you take your figure (ooo err matron) and use it as a benchmark, although I had no upper limit in mind when this occured to me, then more people would actually go through with it than would admit so as a hypothetical situation. Even some of the most commited parters could see the trade-off between degrading yourself (in their own eyes) for an hour or two to "earn" a completely life-changing sum of money.

It wouldn't about degrading myself, it would be about betraying my partner.

Couldn't do it

Then (and I honestly do believe you), you truly are a rare breed, as I think that deep down the majority of people would go for the deal.

I'm sorry but personally I couldn't do it, because I won't cheat on the person I am with. If you want to make it a real scenario then how would you explain that "life-changing" sum of money to your partner??

I think I'd have to discuss it with Phil. I definitely couldn't go behind his back, and he'd find out when I suddenly was able to pay off the mortgage Then again if Phil got the offer, I'd rather not know! Imagine what you'd be going through knowing what your partner was doing at a certain point. I'd struggle to deal with that.

As for the sum, it would have to be enough for us to live in complete comfort for the rest of our lives. Big house, no jobs and able to go racing etc.

That's an excellent point that I hadn't considered.
