Poker Set!
Where can we find a cheap but goodish poker set (300 - 500 chips?)
We've been trying to find some 11.5g chips and have found a couple on fleabay... found a couple like this: 300 chip set ... is that good? We don't play lots - probably once a month with a few friends over. But it would be nice to have a semi decent set as opposed to a small diddy one (which can cope with 4 of us but no more!) Any ideas of where to go!? Or do any of you lot have dusty sets lying around which you don't want anymore and are looking for a sale |

something like that would be fine 11g is pretty standard
I would go for something without numbers or with more appropriate numbers, poker tournaments traditionally start with 25/50 blinds so a good set of chips would be 25/100/500/1000 would also invest in some decent cards, we use Kems, normal cards used to last 1 night, one of our set of Kems have probably been used in over 100 games and are still perfect |

Got any idea where we can pick up a decent set Grandad?!
*edit* lol! Just went to the amazon linky! Our poker nights are generally drunken with some friends and playing for pennies (if not playing for a bed and the rest have to sleep on the floor!) Although I would *LOVE* a proper poker set like yours... I think a "cheapy" £10 - £15 will suffice for now I have some decent cards kicking around from where I used to do magic tricks. They have taken a good buffeting and are still alive so card wise I think we're fine Picks somewhat excited though at the thought of Big Blind and Small Blind tabs as well as a Dealer chips He also got excited the chips were in a wee briefcase! lol! Bless him! Annoyed as Toys r Us did a goodish deluxe 500 chip set for £14.99... but they're out of stock! Bar stewards! Last edited by Pheebs; 18-10-2008 at 15:20. |

*wubs woo*
lol £750 drunken social game! I think the ones we play in probably surmount to about £20 in total, lots of cocktails, lots of pick bits and boxes of cheap plonk (ie Liebfraubmilch!) A little bit more casual than your games methinks! Perhaps in the foochure when we actually become semi ok at playing we may venture into a social event such as yours! But for now, I can't help but to crack up at any hand I have I have no poker face!!! (Despite this I seem to win a lot... Maybe my plying guests with drinks and cocktails pays off ) Last edited by Pheebs; 18-10-2008 at 15:26. |

had a quick look and the one I linked above is as good as any, well it appears to be but in reality is best to handle them to assess quality, oo er

Superb we'll stick to some fleabay type ones Would love to have a couple of nights playing poker with the likes of you mister!! I think you could teach me a thing or two!! Will have to set up a proper night for the new year - bit too skint at the moment and only able to afford this due to a tax rebate! Huzzah! But indeed, when we do arrange one you must come play! |

sounds like you have fun, I'm not that bothered re the stakes/prizes but do tend to play slightly higher buy in games as the standard of play is obviously better and makes for a better game
there's a game in Nottingham next month with an estimated £250,000 prize pool |
