Exclamation Notice of Intended Prosecution...

Well as some of you know, I've recently been caught speeding

Now before I send off the £60 fine, I've been told to write to the police asking them for photographic evidence and a copy of the calibration certificate. How would I go about putting this into a letter?

Cheers guys

Seriously SB, it's not worth it. On the NIP I had, they said they wouldn't give me a copy of the callibration cert as the machines are self callibrating.

Just suck it up.

Do you KNOW you were speeding? If yes, pay the fine. If you genuinely think you've got a case of not speeding then try and take it further.

Its the old chestnut, I genuinely did think it was a 40 zone, turns out its a 30. Ive no problem paying the fine, but Kittens right, no harm in giving it a go for the price of a stamp!

Besides, gives me a little bit longer to get the money together

If you were speeding then just pay the fine. People taking the piss and trying to get out of it when they know they were in the wrong just make things harder for those who are wrongly accused of speeding.

DO NOT REQUEST THE PHOTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want a hope in hell of getting off, for the love of god do not request the photo!

They are legally obliged to supply you with the photo before the court appearance. IF they do not do this within the specified timeframe the case will be dismissed. (read up on the specifics of this, I cannot remember the time or details off the top of my head).

DONT give them the chance to correct that mistake by asking them for it!

if you want to go not guilty then its your choice but if you plan to pay then its not worth it. as for the calibration certificate, you can ask but they may not issue proof and say it is a matter for the courts to request at any future proceedings. I am guessing that you got this fine in scotland ? it has cameras everywhere. believe it or not but I am not a fan of traffic matters and its a tough break. the outcome is almost guaranteed though if you contest it though and a technicality isn't there. more points and a bigger fine.

don't get wrong in that if you feel it is worth looking into then do it. it can't harm to enquire about the certificate or if it was a borderline excess speed.
