New game - Guess the repair bill!
Right I genuinely don't know what it is yet as I couldn't be bothered asking (it needs done anyway).
Dropped my car into the garage today with a list of things I wanted them to check out, lets see who guesses closest when I pick it up on Monday evening.. They have identified the causes and ordered up parts. Main points: 1. Toyota Aygo/manual (2006). 2. It's at a non-Toyota garage (yes I know this can be daft.) 3. It's at Arnold Clark (yes I know this is even more daft.) Repairs to faults: 1. Water ingress through aerial in roof. 2. Trouble selecting 2nd gear. 3. Engine noisy when clutch pressed down (probably clutch linkage - guessing). 4. Full MOT (passed btw.) Always fixed my cars myself in the past so I've no idea what the bill will be but I'm guessing it won't be cheap. Closest one wins, erm, er bragging rights. Entries are for the TOTAL COST including MOT etc. |

when we had a noisy clutch we were quoted 2k ish to take the gearbox out and find the fault. new gearbox and installation would be another 3 - 4k. I should imagine. I reckon Kate's estimate isnt far off
Our solution? Have someone drive up your backside and write the car off, getting a dcent market value price for it. |

Noisy gearbox when Clutch is in means the Thrust bearing is knackered, They will ring you & tell you that there is No point taking the gearbox out & changing the Thrust bearing without doing the Clutch plate, They are Correct.
Cost 250 quid all in. With the other bits & bobs it will add up to slightly short of 400 quid SO I will say £379 of your quids. If they are a Decent garage it will come to 243 quid All in. |

Having had plenty of first hand experience of Toyota parts prices even something as simple as a rubber seal will still be at least a few quid.
I'm going to go for £550ish total and the roof will still leak afterwards. |
