Default Nvidia on the ropes ?? ATI/Intel to do GPU on PS4 etc

Interesting story on The Inquirer about Intel/AMD have agreed to do the gpu for PS4, XB3 and Wii2. In as much as Nvidia have took that great big shotgun and managed to blow off one foot then the other, you can't really have much sympathy for them. That said will this represent good value for us consumers.

Given a choice of GPU in my PC I would always choose ATI as I think there graphic drivers are more stable in the long run, but it's nice to have a choice.

FOR THE NEXT next generation of consoles, PS4, XBox3 and Wii2, it looks like Intel is in, Nvidia is out. The picture for their GPUs is starting to become clear.

Yeah, Intel won the PS4 GPU, no shock considering how much they needed a console win to get people coding for Larrabee. They can either convince companies to put in a code path for the chip in Big Budget Mediocre Sequel 7: Vengeance of the Farmland Creatures by sending people with wads of money and begging, or get a console win. They got a console win, and it was the right way to go.

Very interesting read. When I upgrade from my 8800GTS (512) then I think I'll be going back to ATI. Nvidias recent pricing is staggering (crap pound accounted for). Driver support has improved though.

Also the laptop GPU failures recently won't win them any favours. There was also the iffy bios updates where they make the GPU fan run at 100% to try and tick them over the warranty dates.

I still can't stand nVidias drivers. They just seem so bloody annoying to get what I want working correctly. Add to that, you have to change driver depending on what you want to play.... No thanks.

ATI just seem to work flawlessly for me.

Sony debunked this story a couple of days ago, it's a work of fiction.
