Bit of Mouton always goes down well. Love their slogan "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change" (Premier I am, second I was, Mouton never changes)
Currently in France about 20min away from Chateaus Lafite-Rothschild and Mouton-Rothschild. Bit pricey to do a tour of either though Went to Chateau Lafon-Rochet last week and picked up a case of their 2006 first growth, very nice it is too - around £25/bottle. The cheaper (everyday) one is nice too. Very full-bodied, excellent with meat mmmm. Due to the pound dying it's not especially cheap to buy wine here anymore, but the selection is fantastic. If anyone has any particular Bordeaux favourites I can try to find them at the supermarket (where "world" wines are simply wines from other parts of France ) and bring home a few bottles |

I think I've mentioned it before but the Virgin wines service is actually pretty good for getting a taste of a few different bottles, we rated them all in my flat. First thing I did was sign up to the website but not buy anything. After a few weeks I got an email asking why I hadn't bought anything and offered a really cheap deal. Delivery to your door and some really nice wines. Considering how nice they were and how cheap they worked out per bottle, I think I got a pretty good deal! The only catch is they automatically sign you up to pay £20/month into an account to buy more wine, but you can cancel it with an email very easily.

I generally tend to go for Australian or South African Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon. They've not failed me yet
My favourite is a Morrisons 'The Best' Australian Shiraz. It's about £8 a bottle and I love it!

I'm by no means a wine buff but I like what I like:
Ernst & Julio Gallo Zinfandel / Grenache (or the blend) are nice light fruity Rose great for drinking alone or with chicken/fish meals For other drinking I enjoy the sainsbury's box of "soft red wine" with the picture of a fish and baguette on it

Sainsbury's does a nice Pinot Noir and I'm not a big fan of the reds.
http://www.sainsburys.com/groceries/...=1238360472829 [ Edit ] There is a £5 75cl bottle there but the URL is the same, odd. |

Well taht was pointless. Just got back from sainsburys and couldn't find any of teh wines sugested, or even the ones I like and have ot from there before. But teh shelves where out of a few things.
On other news went to teh butcher today. Pork belly 2 racks of ribs pack of mixed game meet Pack of diced venison T-Bone steak 8 venison and red pepper sausages 400 grams diced Lamb Should last most of the month and only cost £29. I doubt you could get hat cheaper in a supermarket.
