Default F1 on its knees!

Looks like there will be to F1 style series from 2010 unless someone does some serious back peddling!

Nuts. I know some people wanted this, but I was really really hoping it wouldn't happen. F1 needs the balance of power between the teams and the FIA so that it can innovate without becoming a meaningless display of who's got the most money. Hope they sort it somehow but I don't think there's time.

1.2 I'd say. The current F1 is likely to be Williams and 3 newcomers.

Can't say I'm surprised. I wonder if Max and Bernie's arse holes are flapping?

Max's very well might be if he's been in any more Nazi Orgies.

Forgive my ignorance here but is this such a terrible thing? The cap I mean, not the break away?

Hmmm, interesting. I'd be up for seeing this new series at a cut down entry price as currently the money for a ticket is insane. Another key point is that it seems that Bernie is withholding money from teams dating back to 2006.

There was a similar wobble to this a few years ago, I do hope that they will have the balls to go through with it this time. One of the major changes they could make would be to tell their drivers to overtake! Watching one car follow another and then "leap frog" in the pits is absolutely pants.

That's a matter of opinion. Personally I'm against it because F1 is meant to be the pinnacle of 4 wheeled motorsport and it can't be that with a budget cap in place.

On the other hand I do understand who the cap could be beneficial by making the sport more accessible for teams with smaller budgets so I think the cap should either be enforced across the board or scrapped. The proposal is for it to be a recommended cap but with potential penalties for teams that go over the cap. That would create a 2 tiered sport which personally I think would be a very bad move.

The reason I asked was as I'm sure most of you don't know Rugby League had a salary cap introduce some time ago and at the time everyone was complaining that it would ruin the sport but to be honest it hasn't. It means the top clubs compete against each other but other teams can compete with them. If teams exceed this cap then get points deducted at the start of the season.

A salary cap is a different thing though, also the F1 cap is excluding salaries and marketing so it's basically just car development and running costs. With a cap on those things the teams are limited as to what developments they can do and they must choose carefully. Make a wrong choice and they're stuck with it.

Again, I can see the possible benefits to that as it forces them to use more brain power rather than just throwing money at the problem but my overriding thought is that F1 is meant to be the pinnacle so the teams should be allowed to spend what they can afford.
