Default WiFi aerial extension

One of the PCs has a slightly flaky wi-fi signal, though it has a marked improvement if the PC is moved about a foot to one side (almost line of sight then through a door, not through a wall), however it's not practical to leave it there.

Where would be the best/cheapest place to look for a cable that I could use to 'extend' the aerial so I can move that to somewhere with better signal? The only ones I can see are about £15 and Female to Female so not really any good.

I bought mesel one like this:

Ok it isn't an extension as you've asked for but it works. You can plug it in and then put the stand somewhere else, actually worked out better as it stands up by itself (currently on my bookshelf \o/). Less than a fiver too!

That looks pretty handy. Would need to set up an eBay/PayPal account but I suppose for under a fiver it's not much hassle!

Well the easiest way to get you money would be Paypal anyway, so thanks for the offer but it's probably easiest if I just do it myself anyway

How flaky? Would it be worth looking at the setup of the wifi? Lower channels mean a slightly lower wavelength, which could improve things.

Even something as simple as moving the aerials a bit made a marked difference with my setup!

12 dBi. Holy whatevers.

I've got a 9 dBi antenna, and that's big enough. Your current antenna is probably 3 dBi, so that's some power boost, though that's only part of the story.

To be fair, the strength of the aerial isn't much of an issue as I know the signal is better about a foot forwards but that link is still the cheapest i've found for an extension cable even though it's got an aerial too

Just realized the length of the cable for one of those i linked is 3m

Bit of a bargain tbh, tempted to buy one myself as it'd be an upgrade from my current one. Would it be possible to replace the detachable antenna on my router with one of these to give better coverage to the whole house or would it cause issues having two antennas coming from the same router being really spread out?
