Default Top tip for Virgin V+ customers

Press V+ button
Choose option 3 - Planned Recordings
Choose option 2 - Planned Series

Delete the series links for shows that are no longer on.

Notice a significant improvement in the responsiveness.

Oooh I'll have to do that. Didn't really think about it before, but having had it 18 months, there must be a ridiculous amount on there!
Thanks

That v+ box is a pile of ****.. I'm on my 3rd in 3 years and you can hear the HDD grinding on the new one already.. Can't beat Virgin service though.. They come out pretty much with no arguments.

First fault HDD failure, second one I think it was the video card as we were getting anomalies on the screen and bad data corruption.. They tend just to replace the unit.

2nd sounds like a tuner problem. Is the STB kept in a cabinet or on top of/underneath another bit of kit? i.e. could it be running a bit hot?

Still it's good that Virgin just replace the box, Sky tried to charge me £150 for a new box when my SkyHD box died a couple of years back, the service was cancelled rather promptly

I've got 2 x V+ boxes (one silver, one black) and a cable modem just sitting around at home at the moment, cancelled Virgin subscription, phoned them up about picking the boxes and they said just keep it!

*edit*

The point being (lol), if anyone wants spares just ask as long as you can pick up from Liverpool St

We do this as standard - makes sense not to have it all piling up and using resource.

We've won a V+ box and the top TV package for 6 months, despite already being VM customers. Was installed the other week but don't really have much use for it as been using Windows Media Center for nearly 5 years now. Can't believe how arcane and clunky the V+ interface is compared to a proper PC - can't seem to find any way of searching for a program by name nor can I list all the programs for a given channel vertically down the screen and scroll through them quickly.

TBH, when the 6 months is over I'm going to cancel the TV service altogether.
