Can't say as I agree with that Nokkon. The problem with EA is that when they released BF2 it was buggy as hell and buggy for the first few patches. I thank them for launching one of the finest games in the genre on any platform and for squad based shooters its up there with anything else. However they were far too concerned with the development of the Battelfield franchise to actually listen to anything that the community wanted. On it's own merits a great game but the server browser was gash. Many Many threads on the official EA BF1942 forums were trashed and deleted time and time again.

BF2 was a cash cow nothing more for EA. Moreso for the fact that I was knew some of the top server providers at the time who were completely isolated from selling ranked servers. It was a closed shop in terms of who could offer game servers and I am not talking about some fly by nights either. E-Frag & Game2XS were both told not to bother in applying because the answer would be no.

So yes EA were a company that PC gamers loved to hate and quite rightly so.

If they stood back they'd probably realise they're the only publisher offering new and exciting projects for them to play!
Given your knowledge of the gaming industry I would have expected you to know better than that. Many Many companies from the size of Blizzard throught to Interoversion through to small independents have offered new and exciting franchises on par or if not better than EA.

I'm with Loki right now, I tend to associate EA with very big, but not special titles. BF2 is the last title I really loved that they released and the support they gave for it is nothing compared to the support Blizzard and Valve - to only name a couple - provide for their games. I wish more developers released titles with the intention of improving them over time, but that probably runs contrary to making money.
