Default Dymetrie, the Chef...

Timeline: 8pm

Mission: Fill gut

Available foodstuffs: Beef Mince, Onion, Peppers, Mushrooms, Garlic, Potatoes

The (stupid) Idea: SHEPHERDS PIE!!

So there was me, 8pm and I decided it was time to cook dinner. "Not a problem!" quoth I, "It shall be done in but a jiffy" *opens the bottle of Jacobs Creek Shiraz Cabernet so it can breathe while he finishes his beer*

So with a song in my heart and hunger in my gut I grabbed my trusty chef's knife (it's a Zweilling btw Simon) and began to slice, dice and pretty much decimate (If you have a razor sharp 10" blade these are the only activities you can partake in).

Timeline: 8.05pm

Progression: Bolognese style minced beef thing frying

Condition: peckish

About this time I decided that I would need potatoes to mash, I looked at the bag of tatties, I frowned, I got out the crappy peeler, I got to work...

Timeline: 8.30pm

Progression: Mince (bolognese style) cooked, Potatoes peeled and simmering.

Condition: hungry

So I poured the beef mince, bolognese style, base into the baking dish... Damn it looked good but I resisted the urge to just eat it and damn the potatoes... After all, I was watching Angel and so was feeling quite vampiric at the time. I thought it would be a good idea to wash up everything I had used so far.

Timeline: 9pm

Progression: Potatoes cooked, base meat settled...

Condition: RAVENOUS!

I could smell it! I'd been smelling it for half an hour! To hell with the vampiric thing I WANTED WHAT I HAD COOKED!!!! I took the only option available... I retired to my room and had a cigarette... It worked! 5 minutes later I was mashing potato and dumping parmesan in it, then spreading it out over the bolognese base to create my finished pie

Timeline: 9.45pm

Progression: Taking it out of the oven...

Condition: Burning hands :/

And here is the result of my evening's cookage!

Then I put it on the plate and realised there wasn't enough mash (later to find that the cheese made teh mash sooooooo filling that if there had been more it would have hurt).

And just to show that there was THAT much, here is what is left for me and Mark (when he comes home) tomorrow...

Timeline: 10.15pm

Progression: Consumed

Condition: Sated

I like cooking, it's fun, funky, and makes my gut get bigger (this may not be a good thing) whilst ensuring that I don't just drink all the time (this is a good thing).

The only reason I managed to cook it was because when my little sister was staying here (she managed to make herself homeless despite earning more than me) she wanted to cook lasagne one night so bought a dish to cook it in....

I believe these pictures will have to be e-mailed to her just to say "hey look! i can use an oven as well!"
