Default Worst delivery ever

I've ordered some new monitors from Dell and they were scheduled for delivery this morning.

Dell originally informed me that delivery would take place on or before the 17th. So a week early, but seeing as the delivery e-mail wasn't sent until 1:07am this morning, informing me it would be between 8:00am and 18:00. Pretty inconvenient to be told at that hour, with barely any warning that somebody needs to be in all day. Good job I work from home but that's still a complaint from me because that delivery window is very ambigious at first, and then out the blue, it's potentially in 7 hours time.

By 10:00am I wonder how it's going, so I run the online checker with the courier (Syncreon) and it says it's been delivered to A RABEY at 8:50, whoever that is. No card pushed through, I was up and making coffee at 8:50 in the kitchen which is about 5ft from the door and nobody came.

I call them and the automated machine asks for my ref number. I type it in and a female Hawking tells me it's been delivered and runs through all the details. Thanks, how do I enquire further? "Thank you for calling *cuts off*"

Redial and mash random numbers on 3 attempts to enter a ref number before it finally puts me on hold for 57 minutes, yes 57 ****ING minutes to speak to a CSR who informs me it was delivered with no problems. Apart from the problem I'm not A RABEY and I don't have my order. I'm put on hold for another 10 whilst she calls the driver. Apparently he's going to go pick it up from the location and bring it here. Good idea.

An hour later I get a call back from Syncreon telling me my order has been taken elsewhere, this A RABEY is basically saying he's signed for it, he can do what he likes with it. There's 2 widescreen monitors which he's probably flogged down the pub. The woman has given me a number to call at Dell to arrange a redelivery. Called that, and the cock on the end of the phone refuses to do anything for 24 hours until they recieve confirmation from Syncreon of a missing order. New delivery date is on or before 4th December.

What a crock of ****. I've had some flaky deliveries in the past but this just takes the biscuit really. I think I'll cancel the Dell order and find them on Scan or something.

Edit: Just spoke to Dell, can't cancel the order because it's passed a certain delivery phase. The plank told me to send the monitors back within 7 days for a full refund. He didn't quite understand that I don't have them to send back, and why would I be cancelling the order because the delivery was a joke and I want to go elsewhere, if the monitors were sucessfully delivered? I'd be using them all cheery and happy by now wouldn't I? Arrghh. I want to bite my desk.

For a start, this A Rabey has basically committed theft if he's refusing to give the monitors back. They're not his, he's not paid for them, so even if Dell send you additional monitors he's stealing from them. Fingers crossed they sort him out over it.

It sucks though, hopefully Dell can sort it soon and get the monitors to you in a decent time frame, or you have no problems cancelling if you choose to do so.

OK, another call saying they've reboxed 1 monitor but the other is still missing. Am I right in saying I just want to ****ing cancel the lot now. I don't know where this has been and it's only half the order anyway with the other half coming in 2-3 weeks and that'll probably be delivered to A BONGLE or whatever before getting to me.

I guess if it's still in new condition and hasn't be scratched or had its leads knicked or whatever it might be ok but I'm a bit put off now by all this and I don't think it's professional at all to deliver to completely the wrong address and then inform me they'll be turning up later with half the order, which has already been opened and rifled through by some random.

I'd wash my hands of it and tell them to either stuff it completely for the full refund or that you want two, brand new, un-opened ones within 48 hours as compensation (obviously not for free), else you'll just get other monitors from some online retailer.

I assume, as Davey said, that Dell will take the appropriate measures against A RABEY regardless, but they've (or at least the courier) acknowledged fault, and therefore you're completely in the clear (aside from having cash out of pocket for now) and will get the full cash refund.

A Rabey has obviously pulled a fast one. Ideally the Police need to be involved but I'm not sure whose propety it would be at this point.

My guess is that until it arrives in the hands of the intended recipient, it would still be classed as Dell's property

Not sure about that. Many places say that ownership transfers on delivery. They don't say anything about it bring delivered to the right address.
