Default Anyone know camcorders?

Hi all,

I'm looking to get a camcorder sometime soon but I don't really know what's good and what isn't. I'd like a hard disk drive and for it to be HD, but as I'm working to a budget of around £300 (maybe a little more if it's worth it) then I realise I'm probably going to have to compromise. So, anybody help me out?

Cheers,

Brigs

Think most of the HD camcorders use SD cards nowadays. Depending on what you want it for you might want to take a look at the Flip Mino HD and Kodak Zi8, I've got the Flip and while the quality isn't as good as a regular camcorder I take it places that I'd never take a camcorder as it's so small.

I got to know video cameras recently at uni, although they were high end DV cams (sony z1)

Having a quick look around, Sanyo seem to have options at your budget; http://www.jessops.com/online.store/...6036/show.html

For the 'better' brands like Canon/Sony they (at least on Jessops) are closer to £400+

JVC are OK if you can live with 'laser touch'. I found it a bit awkward but it's a good idea in theory and the rest of the camcorder wasn't bad. Not sure if there are any within budget, however.

Cool, thanks chaps. Looks like I will go down the SD card route as it seems to be cheaper with no real drawbacks. The Sanyo one on Jessops is as little as £150 elsewhere, which would leave me money for accessories and chocolate.
