Lots of info here, the WDC totally passed me by this year, a lot of this stuff we already new because of the chap who lost his phone but the new OS looks good and certainly seems to have a lot of the things people have been asking for

I was considering pre-ordering but will probably wait until I can find out how to keep my current PAYG number etc. Haven't yet researched but I assume the new one takes the micro SIM as rumoured with the earlier leak.

I think i'll get one. 24th... not long to wait. I'm eagerly awaiting the news from O2 - I'm still contracted for a year so can accept the longer contract period without much trouble at the moment.

and this looks like it'll help cover costs without bothering with ebay - http://www.o2recycle.co.uk/phoneSele...p?phoneID=2441

Can't say I'm bothered myself. The new phone looks great but doesn't really bring any amazing features that make me want to upgrade, even if I had the spare money.

I really like the look of the phone, and the higher resolution screen looks great, especially for watching films (something I do quite often), but I imagine the PAYG cost of buying the phone will be just far too high to consider getting it now. I do like the look of the new OS though, looking forward to installing that on the 21st and giving it a whirl.

I won't be getting one of them but hopefully at this rate I'll be able to afford a 3GS when my contract's up in October

Bit concerned that I can't use the new OS though. I write a few regular columns on iPhone games and if they require the latest update, I'm going to be a bit stuck! :/

Assuming you're eligible for an upgrade, isn't a bit daft not to?

32GB 3GS are going for £400 on ebay. Even if the bottom falls out because of the new model, I think I'll get £300 which would be hopefully more than the $299 new 32GB iPhone 4.

I have a bog standard 3G, so I'll definitely be upgrading. Then either sell or keep the 3G as a spare phone.

Assuming current prices (for the 3GS) and my current monthly rate, I'd have to pay a small fortune for an iPhone 4 so I'd rather stay one step behind.

As it stands I've had a 2g for just over 2 years and not suffered for it so I don't mind being one step behind for a while to come!

Obviously if Apple/O2 offer very cheap rates, it'll be different but I'm not expecting it to be cheap enough for me
