This has come back to haunt me. Saturday morning I got a letter from HSBC saying following their investigation they've come to the conclusion that I authorised the transactions!?! (cheeky gits!)

I started this thread just after getting it...

Currently HSBC haven't been much help, the team who sent the letter don't work weekends so I was told to expect a phone call between 8 & 10 tonight from them. Play.com have a foreign call centre who were also not a lot of help, told me they'd escalated my issue to the right team & they'd email me. Don't know how much use they'll be.

What do you think I can do to sort this out if the bank simply wont accept the crime? I've got copies of what they've sent me & written a complaint for the financial ombudsman which I'll get in the post tomorrow, but I've also considered going to the police. Seems like the only way to sort it if nobody else will help me

In other words, it's up to HSBC to prove you authorised the transaction, and not you to prove that you didn't. If they can't, FSA says you win. Don't let them fob you off with that one.

Brilliant little resource there Mark. Thanks. Lifts a weight of my shoulders!

I've moved the majority of my money & bank details with work. Left a bit for iTunes app purchases(!) but they wont get more of my money until they sort this out!

They didn't call as they told me they would today either. Will call them before I leave work tomorrow and get my ombudsman complaint posted tomorrow. Feel a little uneasy about going to the police, but can't cope with the stress of all this for much longer!

I have just left Santander/Abbey as they are useless little poopers. They suck.

Moved to Natwest, who seem to be pretty good so far!!!

Just been trying to get through to their fraud team again & either they keep me on hold & say they can't get through because the fraud team are very busy (is everyone getting robbed!?) or as just occurred, I kept talking to the same guy whilst he phoned other departments.

He just claimed the team I need finish at 5 (at 9 last night I was told it was 6) and also said that 'if they decide to re-open the case' he wasn't sure on the time frame it would take to resolve although it is 'usually 5 working days'.

He didn't mention the £875 pending payment at all when looking at transactions... I think I've just been fed a bunch of lies. Shall have to find some time whilst I'm at work to phone tomorrow!
