Default Some people shouldn't be allowed near a computer

and most definately shouldn't be part of noc. An actual communcation from one of our guys to a customer, a very major important one, worth loads of mulah to us.

Quote:
Dear <customer>

Good morning. We need to inform you that we have
detected this pattern that re-occure on this server almost through out
the week. 2:30 am it would start to consume the CPU cycles at a high
rate. This is caused by SystemIdle We thought you might want to seek a
way to restrict that process.

Best Regards
<engineer>

Indeed, and unlike some of our team, he's actually English.

So, the quote in Feek's signature was true after all.

I've been on the receiving end of some pretty dumb information from noc 'technicians', but I think that one beats pretty much all of them.

Unfortunately (for the person involved), I suspect that'll be a P45 moment (or at best retraining as 'general dogsbody').

PS - on the subject of work, are Telehouse going to sort out their power issues?

Unless, of course there is a process running called 'SystemIdle'. Has someone been doing stealth installs of FAH on the server

To be honest, I wish it was such a moment. We continually get caused hassles by that member of staff, but through some kind of miracle he always manages to hold on to his job. Its surely got to be just a matter of time now. I did get the impression he was given some kind of formal warning though; particularly as virtually the entire company heard about it after the data centre manager spotted it in our queue.

That'll be the day.. We literally only keep that room in Telehouse because of how close it is to the linx exchange room, thats twice in barely a month that we've lost near total power to the room (and that includes the linx exchange's room too), though thankfully last sundays fiasco was only a short one lasting a couple of hours.

Details. Goddamnit Maverick!

I like internet disaster stories. Nice to see someone else taking huge grief other than me.

I honestly couldn't tell you any details, there wasn't much passed to the day team by the shift last weekend. All I had in my inbox was two e-mails, one around 3:00ish and one around 4:30ish saying that they had power down and then back again in Telehouse. When I mentioned it to my boss on Monday he just said "Don't ask" with a resigned note in his voice.
The one in August I had the mispleasure of having to deal with :undecided: but I'll let them off on that one as it couldn't have been avoided. What could have been a lot better was the speed of their response to fix it.
