Thought I'd bump this up since I've been boosting my diet with flapjacks loaded with mixed nuts for the last few weeks

Although, I thought I'd mention I tried a different type of oats - Sainsburys TTD oats. Don't use them! Normal porridge oats are rolled and smashed up a bit which makes the porridge turn into, er, porridge. These ones are more whole and make a kind of swollen oats in milk soup that won't turn into porridge no matter how long you cook it for. Unfortunately it means flapjacks don't turn into flapjacks either. You end up with swollen oats in caramel soup and it just falls to bits. I managed to rescue some of it and cook it a bit longer so the caramel firmed up. What I've got is somewhere between a muesli bar and a liquid Mr Tom (seriously nuts) with oats.

I got bored of buying ready made cereal bars, found they too sweat

Got some oats, bran flakes, honey, brown sugar, bit of butter, raisins, cashew and walnuts, mix everything together and bake, then leave to cool then break up and eat.

I dont really measure them out, made them 3 times now and got it right with guestimation

Made some beasty energy flapjacks this evening, using up all the dregs of cereals in the cupboard. So we've got the basic flapjack mix with a bit of extra butter and sugar, plus about another 75g of mixed cereal, plus around 100g of chopped mixed dried fruit like dates, cherries, prunes and figs. Then there's a handful of dessicated coconut, sunflower seeds, chopped almonds and a couple of pecans. I think that covers it

Cupboard is looking nice and tidy and my tummy is going to be mighty happy at breakfast time tomorrow
