Thumbs down Bikers without proper clothing

What is it with these people? I'm seeing far too many about in this weather who think it's fine to wear shorts and a t-shirt. See lots of youngsters on scooters (who are probably far more likely to come off) without proper gear. Hardly any have gloves and I saw a girl on the way home with a small skirt on

Then on the bypass in town I see a guy in a t-shirt. The thing is though, he had his dayglo Sam Browne belt on so he's obviously safety concious. Nobody is normally seen dead with one of these on, yet he thinks it's OK to wear one with a t-shirt and shorts

I know what you mean Desmo, my friend Russ is a biker and he's drilled it into me to wear protective clothing (when I eventually ride a bike), the thing he always got me with is the phrase "they get the stones and bits out of your bones with a wire brush" ewwwww

Even though it is baking hot, I still put on my leathers (not necessarily my race suit, usually just trousers and jacket) and gloves when I go for a ride.

In the USA a couple of years ago, saw a guy go past us at around 100mph with no helmet, shorts and a vest, weaving in and out of lanes. You just have to wonder sometimes.

That isn't at all uncommon in the US. A lot of states don't even require you to wear a crash hat whilst riding.

I want Von's extendable batton... just so I can sit by the road and see the little numpties coming up on their scooters and extend the baton into their front wheel...

I know it's cruel and evil, but it will teach them the value of wearing protective clothing when being muppets on bikes...

I actually remember reading a copy of a bike magazine and they put different clothing on a dummy and chucked it out a different speeds to see how much protection the clothing gave I think jeans and a t-shirt lasted 5 seconds.

I'm surprised they even lasted that long.

Well this is going from memory but I remember it being bugger all use whereas the leather suit gave the most closely followed by the jacket and trousers

I have to admit it's so tempting to do it, but I'd never do it.

In cyprus I must admit to riding around in short and t-shirts. But it's usually a scooter type thing, and it does feel quite nice.

I always go out with at least my leather jacket, thick jeans, boots, and gloves of course helmet too.

If I'm going for a proper blast I will put my leather trousers on too.
