Er no. I've done exactly what he's trying to do on my iPhone, and had no problems at all. However, I don't use AppSync.

In view of my 100 mins train journey commute starting in the new year, i am going to get an iphone on contract...
What's the best tariff, as in value for money? I dont call much, text mostly but like unlimited internet, and is Orange's 750mb enough??? does O2's net allow Tethering? |

1) The best tariff is the one that is closest to your expected usage. I'm not being facetious.
2) If you use up that broadband allowance, I'll eat my hat. 3) No it doesn't allow Tethering, and neither does Orange's. You can pay extra for the privilege if you wish. |

Ok I think I'm going to cave.
Been out of contract for just over a month now. Was going to wait until the new Android 2.0 handsets with faster processors and high res screens arrived but feel this could still be a good few months yet and I'm getting impatient. Proponents of Android always mention how much more "customisable" the system is than the iPhone but, tbh, that doesn't really bother me as I wouldn't want to customise it that much anyway. The final factor is that the iPhone will integrate better with the car system as I can get a cradle for it and I do a lot of my calling in the car these days. So, if I decide to jump, the question is then O2 or Orange. I don't have any personal issues or preference for either network but I am concerned about O2's inferior coverage and congestion. As for Orange, the fair usage cap is a bit of a concern next to O2's unlimited usage but how much of an issue is this in reality. I believe the limit is 750MB (didn't it use to be 500MB?). How easy is it to breach this limit and what happens if you do? If anyone here who has an iPhone on Orange can share their experiences, I'd be grateful

Bear in mind O2 has a Fair Usage Policy. It probably isn't that far different from what Orange are quoting - but at least they're putting a hard figure on it.
As I've said before, if you fall foul of Orange's limit (without deliberately trying) I'll eat my hat. |

Orange is looking like a better bet than O2 tbh.
What's the best way of ordering it - just online via the website or ring them up?

Have you used either of them in your area? A year or so back I moved from O2 to Orange only to find the phone reception was a bit pants in loads of places I go so I swapped back to O2 as soon as I could.
It's worth checking depending on how your area is for coverage

Orange have the worst coverage I've ever known in my area. Couldn't use the phone in my house at all for the whole lifetime of the contract. Moved to O2 - full signal.

At my parents, Orange is better than O2 (borderline 3G thanks to a recent upgrade vs borderline nothing), but around here it doesn't seem to make the slightest difference.
Definitely best to check first though if you can. |
