One of my colleagues at work is a strange lady.
3 years ago she smoked regularly, ate kinda okay, but not particularly healthily, and was a self described 'lazy slob'. She decided to change all that and started running and eating healthily happened as a natural extension of that, along with not smoking. Last year she ran marathons for the first time. Several of them over the space of a year. This year she's run a few marathons, won the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu marathon in 6h 19m (a 27.5m trail that climbs up to heights of 4200m, something she can't train for here), and has taken up ultra-running. She's just been confirmed for this http://www.hurt100trailrace.com/ Crazy lady...

Was hoping to do 10k round Bushy Park this lunchtime but my running partner's knee/ITB/calf has let him down again. We only got up to about 4.5k when it started playing up, we got chicked by a HOT girl in hotpants and long white socks, walked for a bit, took a wrong turning in the park and got lost, ran for a bit, stretched, ran a bit more and clocked up 7k. I'm hoping he's going to be ok because he was trying to push himself through it despite me protesting, but I think he might regret it tomorrow.

I've not run for ages :/
The charity run is next weekend :/ Need to try and fit a few runs in within the next week somehow. Not going to be fun as my bro is on holiday from today and all next week so work is going to be doubly knackering as it is...then down the gym and then trying to run. Hey ho, life is fun

I was contacted today by the Anthony Nolan Trust about doing a press release
They gave me a quick interview on the phone and will apparently be contacting local and national media and using my story on their website Don't worry too much Jamie, I'm not at mmy fittest and I seem to be consistantly running times over 30 minutes at the moment, so we just go for it and see what happens MB |

7.5km = 43m 40 secs
10km = 57m 50 secs Actually felt good today & probably could have gone further which is a good feeling I set the pace at 10.3km/h & went to 10.5km/h for final 2.5k then finished with a sprint at 11.5km/h for last 500m. Going to keep it up to 7.5k stints 4 a couple of weeks & get out at least 3 times a wk so can keep up the distance. Happy! BB x PS actually thought I might have to switch to running outside as the machines only let you do 60mins max....tested it today & it went into 'Marathon mode' none of the PTs knew what this was & they are going to find out for me The distance reading goes up slower & in different increments, but doesnt say what :/ Last edited by BBx; 11-08-2011 at 20:44. |
