I am toying with the idea of switching my down to 4MB. I got sucked into the whole E Penis connection trip when it got released but it really isn't needed. I game less & less these days & thinking about it i gamed quite succesfully on much less than 4 meg back in the day.

With 3 - 4 people in the house who use the internet connection, the extra bandwidth would always be appreciated. I also wanted it because of the higher cap when traffic shaping occurs (after 2Gig of downloads, during peak hours the speed gets capped to 6Mb) which enables me to still be able to work from home when on call.

TBH if this continues I'll look into getting BT to reactivate the phone line in the hall and see what decent broadband options we can get.

Actually it's after 3gb and it gets reduced to 5mb

No problems with Vm here....(aka blueyonder).

Actually it's after 3Gb and yeah, you're limited to 5Mbit down/256Kbit up.

Last I heard, nope. We still can't afford to buy an additional DSL pipe from BT without wiping out our profit margins entirely, and we're far from the cheapest ISP.

That is Zen again but without the Wireless network in the way, st.tstools.co.uk gives me 5022.69 Kbps.

The connection at work was upgraded a few months back...

I don't know what connection that is, but do I look like I care?

PS - If you want a little speed boost, minimise your web browser as soon as possible after starting the test and leave it for a minute or so. There will be no fancy graphics to update (and slow the test down). Over VPN this makes a huge difference, but it'll be less if you're going direct.
