Yup!

My postman often puts post through the door without getting me to sign for it and he always takes it round one of the neighbours' house if we're not in. But I trust him and the neighbour. He's a great postman and known him for years. I remember a few years back when I had a car accident down the road () while I was waiting for the car to be picked up, he checked I was ok.

Cheeky sod at times if he thinks I've been getting up too late but generally a lovely bloke all round.

If I didn't know the postman though, I'd much prefer they got me to sign every time and if I didn't trust the neighbour, I'd rather it go back to the depot.

Apple.

Why do they have to make things so complicated?
  • I want to update my iPhone to iOS 4.2
  • I can't do that because I need iTunes 10.
  • I can't install that because Apple dropped support for OS X Tiger.
  • So I have to buy Snow Leopard, or install iTunes on Windows (spit!). Fortunately, I bought Snow Leopard last year (don't tell Apple! ) and needed an excuse to install it, but...
  • I can't install Snow Leopard because my SuperDrive is knackered.
So I've had to dig out a USB DVD drive and wipe my Mac clean this morning. :/

Smokers who stand in shop doorways smoking

Now, first things first: I hate this. The bit I don't get is it's behaviour that only seems to have started since the smoking ban and I don't remember ever seeing it beforehand. It doesn't matter what the weather is, so it's nothing to do with that, and like I said, it's only since the smoking ban. It's not like you could smoke in shops before, so why the migration to shop doorways?

The crowd of desperate smokers standing around the station entrance and the sheer amount of litter from ciggie-ends really annoys me too. This is the case for any area where smokers congregate, particularly outside the lower end of the market pubs like Wetherspoons. It's much worse there than any of the other pubs on the high street.

^^ This

I know that if you're going to smoke, you've got to do it somewhere, and often by the door is the only place, so much as I'd rather not walk through a cloud of smoke, I understand.

But why some smokers think it's OK to dump butt-ends in a 'puddle' on the pavement - and even worse, do it right as I am trying to walk past - is beyond me. I didn't even want to go in to the pub.

Android is the answer - downloads updates from your pocket!

My godparents used to smoke 40/day each but never littered the streets with butts, smoked infront of people without permission and always went outside to smoke; it's an issue of behaviour and general courtesy I think.

But like you - I don't see how the ban changes this behaviour - OR are we just so much more sensitive to it now?

This, only they do it in my doorway (I live on a high street and we have a sort of portico entrance). They also tend to give me a dirty look as..... I ask them to move so I can get in the door!!!!

I can see why that would annoy you. In one of the places I lived in Dundee we had junkies lying about in the stairwell every so often. They were actually surprisingly respectful towards the people who lived there, it was just a bit inconvenient having to step over them to put the rubbish out or whatever.

Getting 1MB speedtest on a 7MB line.

Irrational because I discovered soon after that every PC in the house was trying to download at the same time.
