With it being this price, I would. If the OS lasts a few years then it's a bargain. Set up another pre-order and you can always cancel at a later date or flog it.

Done.
My reasoning was that I'm likely to get a new laptop at some point which will come with Windows 7, but I suppose I could always sell it/flog it.

Even if you use it, as it is full retail the resale price will still be very high. Used retail copies hold their value nearly as well as new copies tbh.

Well of course they do, all you're paying for is a valid licence.

I was purely trying to reinforce your decision

I have Linux on my laptop so that was my decision not to get it. If I do upgrade I'll be getting a Mac anyway.
I'm happy to have got one for my main computer as it's powerful enough to kick's it's arse and I've enjoyed what I've read about Windows 7.

I didn't bother ordering myself a copy. I was very close to pushing the button but it then dawned on me that I don't use Windows at home!
Well, I do have a VM on my MacBook that I need to run some specific applications (update for the speed camera detecter and diagnostic software for the car) but Iuse them very occasionally but it's rarely used. |

Yeah I still use windows on my desktop - that will never change really as I do like to flit and play the occaisional game (once every 4 months or so ) so it's nice to have something decent to play it on - making a change to 100% Mac would be too much for me I think - certainly considering I can make a PC for peanuts and you can't build you're own Mac

I've ordered a single copy of HP from PC World, the family PC will probably get that and even if it doesn't then it'll get flogged off somewhere.
