Right, I've twisted some arms and we're doing the Longest Parkrun in June...

It's my turn for a knee injury. I managed to pull it at the end of the Parkrun, probably because it was a cross country one and because of the rough terrain. Feels quite ITB-ish to me and right down near the knee. I’ve iced it a couple of times and am basically shuffling around taking it as easy as possible. I think I was lucky it happened near the end, but it’s basically because I’ve been a bit complacent with the running recently and went for it a bit too hard when I should have been taking it easy this week.
Doesn't feel as serious as before, so with a bit of rest, anti-inflamatories, ice and coming back to it gently I should be ok long-term.

Nearly two months in and I am LOVING track once again!
The speed-endurance I once had is GONE. Utterly destroyed by 2 years out of it. Single run sharpness however is still alive and kicking. So much so that I think I may bring my official comeback a bit forward. Open Meeting in Portsmouth 14.4.12 is my possible comeback date if all goes well. Enter on day so can leave it til the previous Thursday night's session to see if its worth it. If not, maybe Southern Mens League in Andover on the 21st and Open Meeting at my "home" track Southampton on the 25th. Big one though, Hampshire Multi Events Champs. Monday 7th May. Long Jump, Javelin, 200m, Discus, 1500m. 10am-430pm at Mountbatten Stadium in Portsmouth. I cannot begin to describe how much I have fallen in love with sprinting again. Camraderie at training. The twitching quads after a hard session. The energy found from nowehere on the 8th 200m of the night. Shopping for kit is so damn exciting too! It's crazy! Hopefully I can convince someone to join me at some of these matches & get some updated videos & pictures up.

Here is my 4 week (eek!) plan. (It says 5 week because I meant to post it a week ago) Note to Coach: I have switched the 22miler to the Easter Bank Hols weekend as I will have more chance of doing it then. I think you suggested doing it this weekend but I won't be at home. This means I have a shorter taper - what are your thoughts? On Weds 18th April I am going to have a MOT at my gym. I have these about 3 - 6 monthly - it will be interesting to see how the Marathon training has affected my body BB x |

No, don't do your 22 miler on 7th. You are better doing no more runs over 20 miles than putting a 22 miler just 2 weeks before your marathon. You must have a 2 week taper for your body to recover and build itself up for the big day. Drop it down to 16ish.
