Ive seen some really good reviews for prescription giggles for a place via Amazon..Am surprised how cheap they are tbh. Will be getting some myself this month and can let you know how they are although I just re-read your post & not sure I could swim in open water, sounds a bit yukky. Brings to mind that Steve Coogan film where he falls in the canal & gets a condom stuck on his finger. Eeewwee!

I went banana boating once at a WEDDING RECEPTION!

I panicked in the lake there and the water was only up to my waist :/

I CAN swim but am not a confident swimmer and open water - no way!

I just assumed triathlons were for pretty serious athletes, but as I've become fitter I've come to realise a sprint distance tri is actually not much of a challenge to many of us on here. My friend just completed a half Ironman in Majorca and she's totally inspired me to do one now.

I want prescription giggles. How much good would they do on the NHS

Jonny, my friend does triathalons fairly regularly. He just did the cycling/running for fitness and decided to have a go at the Manchester triathalon to see how it pushed him. He did really well & has done loads since. He did his first marathon earlier this year (having never had to run the distance before).

I got a pair of goggles from a guy at work (wife works for an optician), cost about £25 and included stigmatic correction and everything. Have to give them a good spit before using to stop fogging up like snorkel masks but work pretty well. Wouldn't say they are 100% at stopping water getting in but then they don't cost hundreds of thousands as I'm sure Phelps the fish's ones do.

Can't see myself doing a triathalon either. Enjoying watching clips of today's though, far too much kit tbh.

Still can't run, foot really wasn't happy the day after the 4th run. Leaving it until Sept now after a a walking weekend and another week off with more walking involved. Hoping it'll be fine for both those and that'll get it used to it before I kick off with more running, that'll be 7 weeks without a run... Was only 4 last time.

Cov is now impossible, hopes for Reading Half 2013 stay alive, might see Chuckles there!

Hill work is pretty boring, but boy does it work. I'm lucky there there are a couple of routes nearby that involve both a long incline and decline (>.5 miles) and another that is up and down for about 1.5 miles. Slightly less boring that running up and down the same hill 8 times which I've also done.

I'd just do a tri on my normal bike, probably the fixed-gear if it's not too hilly, because it's a bike I know I'm comfortable on. It's only the swimming gear I don't have. Bare hairy chest and budgie-smugglers ftw!
