I spent the whole film wondering when Elaine Paige was going to show up

The fact that Ellen Page is in it is the only reason I don't want to see it. Don't understand why, given such a complex film, they'd get someone who simply cannot act. Really, really puts me off.

I thought she was really wooden. If anything knocked a good few points of it for me, it was her.

Inception

Loved it Excellent film. Can't quite decide if it's my favourite film of the year so far (Shutter Island would be the other for me) and I'd certainly like to see it a second time, but it was brilliant. Deserved all the hype imo.

Spoiler Alert! - Highlight below to read!

I liked the ambiguous ending. Suited the film I thought

End Spoiler Alert!

I saw it, and for all the hype, I honestly wouldn't recommend it as a 'it's 3rd in the imdb.com list' kind of film. It was very good, lovely special effects, great score..ish, but just not worth all the hype that seemed to surround it for the last few weeks'

7.5ish/10

End Spoiler Alert!

I often wonder if hype really spoils films for people these days. I knew nothing about Inception when I went to see it except for the names Nolan and DiCaprio, and now it's one of my favourite films. Compare that to Avatar which I saw a month or so after release and dragged myself to see it after all the hype... I could take it or leave it.

It probably does for many people.

I'd heard a lot of people rave about Inception on Twitter but I didn't actually know anything about the film as I'd avoided all reviews and articles on it. Mind you, if there hadn't been any hype I'd have certainly gone to see it just because of the director.

The current IMDB rating is a bit silly though but it'll no doubt settle in time.

It happens with all popular new movies. Again, Avatar and Star Trek both went straight into the top ten shortly after release. Within a couple of months they were gone again when the votes became more sensible!
