Unbelievably, someone was hammering somewhere in the street when I opened this thread. Not just knocking nails in, but like you say, repeated hits over and over again. It was happening last weekend as well. I can't think of anything that needs to be hit repeatedly and loudly that many times in a row outside of some annoying minor celebrities.

It's rather annoying here too, people above me seem to have a tendancy to starting drilling things at ~11 at night.

/backs away from thread of DIY haters...
I had to bang repeatedly pretty much for half a day the other week... and will have to do the same again soon... ... reason? Punching down nails in floor boards in prep to sand them and treat them. Takes a surprisingly long time to do. I DIY from 8am - late... but anything noisy only happens between 10am to 6pm. But, in my head, I'm doing the neighbours a favour. This derelict house is going to be GORGEOUS and with a lovely garden... so for the sake of a few months of utter annoyance, they will gain! |

My neighbours have a tendency to mow the lawn at 8am on a Saturday morning

I have the opposite problem. I can guarantee that if I take a day off to chill, then there will be some kind of industrial nonsense going on outside!
