I change that in the actual 360 system settings?

In Vista, open Control Panel, then open Sound, select the Recording tab.

Look at the choices and figure out which one is the Xbox (watching the levels may help if the names aren't obvious). Click on that one, then click Set Default, then click Properties and check the volume levels. Click OK twice.

Does that help?

Set default is unclickable for some reason!

I uninstalled the realtek drivers, (vista puts them in auto for some reason) and managed to select default device and I still have no sound.

The PC was much more simple to set up!

OK, go to playback, then speakers, then properties, then levels. Anything useful relating to the microphone in there?

Apparently this is a driver issue. There may be a fix available from the Realtek site.

Nothing of interest in there. I will check the realtek site, although I do have the latest drivers installed.

Could it be something to do with Vista manually putting the realtek drivers in on its own?
