Exactly, unless you are needing a new phone then its not something thats worth doing at all. I suspect thats why the Apple adverts are pushing the video thing, its one of the few parts of the upgrade which people (read kids) will jump for, nothing else is worth the price unless you sell your current phone before entering into a new contract and then its an affordable upgrade

I'll be selling my current HTC Touch and iPod Touch to pay for the new iPhone, I just hope they have them in stock when I want to buy it or I may be without a mobile for a few days!

O2 really are screwing the consumer with the iPhone 32Gb price! $299 -> £185 with the current exchange rate. Nice £90 there O2.

I'll be getting one but only a 16Gb - I refuse to pay the premium for an extra 16Gb of storage. To be honest 16Gb is more than ample for me. I won't use the phone for music or photos. The only iPod type stuff it'll be used for is Podcasts because the screen is bigger than that on my iPod Classic.

I'm on PAYG and just paid a flat £400 for the 16GB. Works for me because I've used all of £30-£40 of credit in 8 months. I wonder what the price will be for the PAYG 32GB (if it's even offered).

The voice commands are 3Gs only aren't they?
I think the real meat of the conference was around Snow Leopard, and having to deal with them more and more at work, there were some nice changes mentioned there. TomTom and tethering were 2 big boxes ticked for me, but then o2 went and spoiled the latter by charging a phantom subscription for it. Have to wait and see what the Pre and it's carriers can offer me, otherwise I might have to stick with WinMo... I really do fancy a change though. It did occur to me last night that the biggest barrier the iPhone has to me has nothing to do with its features or its price - but the fact that although I have access to them both, I am neither a Windows nor Mac user primarily. I could use Dee's PC to activate and occasionally update but I wouldn't like to be tied to it for sync'ing.
