I can only echo what people have said about complaining!
I have to admit though... ... this was my initial reaction! I had to laugh! Poor Poor Zincoxide! *big wubbles to you* |

You can complain to Royal Mail yourself.
You can get a claims form from the post office. If you can, print out the confirmation email/page. I've just received 6 1st class stamps as compensation for the twats losing a MS 360 headset I sold on eBay.

a whole 6 first class stamps?!
I would need the entire 100x price of a first class stamp to cover the cost! I'm gonna drop down to the mail collection place in the morning to see what they say.

Any postie did that to me, whether the stuff was nicked/damaged or not, I would be down the offices demanding to know who did the round and put in a formal complaint and I would demand proof that some disciplinary action was taken. Excessive response - maybe, likely to get a result - maybe not, but I would make sure my anger was known to anyone and everyone.

That does seem almost ridiculously incompetent. I can't think of anything that comes in a package that shape that wouldn't be damaged in some way by putting it in a letterbox like that.
Nice letterbox, by the way.

Actually no I've always liked the sort of outsidey-letterbox type things. Especially the ones they have in America with the little flag.
I also have some other interests which aren't as sad.

That bit could be quite annoying (and very likely around my way) but at the same time the idea of not squashing stuff when opening the front door is also appealing (and my god how sad are we posting about bloody letterbox styles?!?!?! )
