It seems that getting older and wiser has its advantages.

Train ticket from Leeds to Newcastle booked for a mere £10, it's a slow train but I'm in no rush and for £10 I'm not complaining.

Activity day with LoT/Carlimits booked for North Weald for 11th December, that should write the rear tyres off so I can get a new set with some tread on to see my through the winter.

and finally..... Mrs DL commented tonight that I was excited about something in advance of it happening for the first time since she has known me (3+ years). I just don't get excited about stuff that is going to happen but the thought of collecting her on Monday has me grinning like a Cheshire cat and bouncing around the room like a 5 year old that has just been fed a 6 pack of full fat coke

£450 isn't a huge amount for a group 19 car, 10k/year with Business Class 1 and a claim last year especially as I've yet to hit the big 3-0. Bizarrely enough I'm paying £650 for the Mundano with the same underwriter

I was paying similar to be insured on my Corsa until I turned 25, at which point it only knocked another hundred or so off it.

the odd thing about this thread is that if it were taken in it's literal sense, bar the attack and breaking of glasses, and getting back together and thinking about her - it sounds just like my ex, me and my best mate.

Home and rather tired. Long day and I've been reminded why I avoid trains most of the time, they seem to have adopted the airline model of ripping off customers

Drive from Newcastle to Cambridge was a rather definite two parter. Left Newcastle during the rush hour and the drive down the A1 to York(ish) was busy. Getting reacquainted with a car in the dark with heavy traffic probably wasn't the best idea and when I stopped at York services I wondered how the hell I used to drive her long distances on a regular basis. The drive from York to Cambridge was much quieter (well the traffic was, the car was still bloody noisy

) and it just flew by and felt really natural. Cruising around the speed limit the car has instant urge thanks to the close ratio gear box making it far easier to keep with the flow of the traffic compared to the Mundano which is quite long geared and despite being a V6 lacks low down punch.

Got back to Cambridge and filled her up only to be reminded of her party piece. Not many cars capable of 0-60 in under 5.5s with a close ratio gear box that will return 39mpg on a run without even trying!

I'm a happy boy though I may be forced to kill one of the neighbours cats* within 5 seconds of me opening the door it had tried to jump in and when I moved it away it jumped on the newly painted front clam

*I wouldn't really harm a cat, especially not one with such excellent taste

As a side note I got a Flip Mino HD as a present recently and have been trying to work out what I could use it for, tonight I gave it a test. Quality in the dark isn't great (much better in daylight) and I need to work on the positioning (or flip the mirror up and out the way) but I'm happy with it as a proof of concept though I am far from impressed with the BMW driver. He used his indicator FFS
