Rumour has it that they gave it a metal casing just for you.

I wouldn't be surprised, I trod on it 2 weeks ago and cracked the back casing. And I put my guitar cab on it at the weekend

I was determined to pass on this generation having got a 3GS, but if the price (ex. recycling) is sub-£200 as it looks like it might be then temptation might get the better of me.

We'll see. Can't afford until the year's up on the 3GS (September-ish) anyway and the bottom might have fallen out by then.

PS - Of course, the Android option might rear its ugly head again (though there will be some obvious inertia)

I am registering interest, which considering i've always been against getting an iphone is quite a big step for me. I like how this new one looks, and the fact it now has a half decent camera is also another plus for me.

Whether I will be able to afford one is another matter, contract is due for renewal next month, we shall see.

Metal sides, but glass front and rear.. that makes me twitchy given how much people manage to break the existing glass fronted ones.

I was laughing a bit at some journalists who were weeing their pants with excitement on some aspects. ZOMG it's got an HD capable camera, it's the end of the Flip Mivo!!!!1111oneoneoneone. Sure, but have you seen what people do with their Flips? It can take a lot more abuse than the iPhone 4 will ever handle. Plus, just 32Gb of storage consider that's got to hold your apps, music and whatever, that's not expandable makes videoing on it a nice extra that has some purpose but it's not likely to beat dedicated market.

For those that are interested in the iPhone 4, rumours at the moment are that there will be a larger capacity device later this year, probably around November time. That would fit in with Apple's usual release habits too.

AT&T did a nice thing for US customers. Anyone with a contract due to expire this year will be able to get a brand new iPhone from release date (provided they agree to another 2 years). Any signs of similar niceties from UK firms?

Are there any iphone cases that cover the front as well as the back, I am always dropping my current phone, and for my 5800 I have one of these, which is perfect because the whole phone just slides into it.

Sounds like a small point but its a big consideration for me.

This, seems totally pointless if you allready have an Iphone. Unless you are one of the minority who uses video calling.

Go for it, after both our dismal displays of buying phones last time. I can''t praise the iphone enough. it is simply awesome and other phones are only just catching up.

Expect you'll find one if you look hard enough. iPhones are accessory magnets, so while the current crop of cases won't fit, I'm sure there will be plenty of new ones in the not-too-distant future.

Twitch not! Check out the last minute or so of this vid: http://www.apple.com/iphone/design/#design-video

All the breakthrough technology in iPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass — the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains. Chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, the glass is ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever. It’s also recyclable.
Considering my 3G is more than 18 months old and scratch-free without any kind of case or screen cover, I'm certainly not put off!

I don't think our networks have released any details as to their prices yet. I suspect they are working on that information at the moment.
