There's a lot of skill with getting the momentum right and keeping it up. It's impressive either way.

Wow is about all I can say to that, I prefer watching MTBs for tricks generally as although they can't go as big and some of the tricks can't be copied from the motorcrossers I know more about it and to do it solely under your own power impresses me immensely. The landing by Pastrana is stunning, I could almost bet that even if he does the trick another hundred times he will never nail it quite so sweetly again.

Yeah, that's ****ing hard. It's a 120 kilo motorbike, not a pushbike - it takes a massive amount of skill, throttle control, and mostly commitment to do. Those 250s are snappy as **** too, they'll rip your arms off soon as look at you. Mostly, even more so than the talent, it's commitment and brass balls that allows them to do it. And that's for one... being able to get the rotation so perfect when all that's actually driving the bike around is the rotation of the rear wheel.. it's incredible.

I personally find this more impressive - it's the most amazed I've ever been at an MX trick.

is right, my friend Travis has been trying something similar but rotating on the other axis - he's not been trying to barrel roll, he's been trying to 360 sideways and get back on the bike. Last time I saw video of him attempting it he bounced off the landing and into a tree

I thought a double backflip was impressive but that is just taking the urine. Cojones the size of small planets there.
